We are looking for an experienced Project / Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team, supporting the delivery of impactful rail and civil engineering projects across Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a diverse portfolio of works including rail infrastructure, bridges, stations, platforms, tunnels, embankments, highways and environmental projects. You'll be part of a collaborative team delivering both standalone schemes and long-term frameworks for major clients including Network Rail and Transport for Wales, with a strong focus on the delivery of CP7 infrastructure programmes.

The Opportunity

As a Project / Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple rail and civil engineering projects, typically valued between £500k and £5m. Working closely with operational and project delivery teams, you will provide commercial leadership across the full project lifecycle, helping to ensure projects are delivered successfully, profitably and in accordance with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of multiple projects and work packages
  • Prepare, review and submit accurate valuations, estimates and applications for payment
  • Manage client-facing commercial matters and resolve issues effectively
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners
  • Work collaboratively with Site Managers and Project Managers to monitor costs, progress and risks
  • Manage subcontract procurement, payments and contractual compliance
  • Identify, monitor and manage change events, compensation events and early warnings
  • Administer contracts under NEC and bespoke Network Rail forms of contract
  • Produce Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and commercial reports
  • Support project forecasting, final accounts and commercial performance reviews
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and best practice across the commercial function

About You

We're interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in a Quantity Surveyor or Project Quantity Surveyor role within rail and/or civil engineering
  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience delivering civil engineering projects such as rail, bridges, highways, structures or infrastructure works
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts and/or bespoke Network Rail contracts
  • Excellent commercial awareness and contract management skills
  • Effective negotiation and stakeholder management abilities
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes
