We’re looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Project Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team delivering some of the most exciting rail and civil engineering projects across Wales. This is an opportunity to take a leading commercial role on projects that genuinely make a difference — from rail infrastructure and stations to bridges, structures, highways, tunnels and environmental schemes. Working across a diverse portfolio for major infrastructure clients, including Network Rail and Transport for Wales, you’ll have the opportunity to build your experience, take ownership of projects and progress your career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The Role:
- Take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects and work packages, typically ranging from £500k to £5m.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, clients and supply chain partners to drive projects from procurement through to final account — ensuring they are commercially successful, contractually compliant and delivered to the highest standards.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead the commercial management of multiple rail and civil engineering projects.
- Manage valuations, applications for payment, forecasts and final accounts.
- Prepare and monitor CVRs, cost reports and project forecasts.
- Manage subcontract procurement, payments and contractual compliance.
- Identify and manage change, compensation events, early warnings and commercial risk.
- Administer NEC and Network Rail forms of contract.
- Work closely with operational teams to monitor cost, progress and performance.
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
- Lead commercial discussions and negotiate effectively.
- Provide commercial insight and challenge throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to improving commercial processes, systems and best practice.
What We’re Looking For:
- An experienced Quantity Surveyor / Project Quantity Surveyor with a background in rail, civil engineering or infrastructure.
- Experience managing the commercial aspects of civil engineering projects.
- A strong understanding of NEC contracts.
- Experience working on rail, structures, highways or infrastructure projects.
- Excellent commercial and contractual awareness.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- A proactive, collaborative approach.
- A relevant degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification.
