Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for a long-term role within a welcoming and supportive primary school in Doncaster?

Academics are currently supporting a friendly primary school in Doncaster seeking a confident and capable HLTA to join their team on an ongoing basis, with potential for a permanent role for the right candidate.

Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Contract: Long-term ongoing position with temp-to-perm potential
Pay: £92.56 - £130 per day (paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees)
Start Date: ASAP or a start date that suits you

About the Role

As an Higher Level Teaching Assistant in Doncaster, you will support teaching and learning across the school by delivering pre-planned lessons, leading interventions, and supporting pupils both academically and emotionally. You may provide whole-class cover during teacher absence or PPA time while also working closely with pupils who require additional support. This role is ideal for a confident HLTA who enjoys variety, responsibility, and helping pupils achieve their full potential within a positive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead lessons during PPA cover and teacher absence
  • Deliver small group and 1:1 interventions across the curriculum
  • Support learning across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 where required
  • Promote positive behaviour, confidence, and engagement
  • Adapt learning activities to meet pupils' individual needs
  • Assist with classroom organisation and learning resources
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
  • Follow safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times

Candidate Requirements

  • Level 4 HLTA qualification or degree qualification (essential)
  • Experience leading whole-class learning
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Flexible and professional approach
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
