About Us

As a leading specialist contractor delivering complex demolition, civils, enabling works, structural alterations, and heavy structural "cut & carve" schemes across challenging inner-city London sites. Due to a strong, secured pipeline of prestigious upcoming projects, our client is seeking experienced and technically precise Site Engineers of various levels to lead our on-site technical delivery, setting out, and structural monitoring operations.

Job Overview

As a Senior Site Engineer, you will hold technical accountability for complex demolition, civils, and structural alteration projects. You will combine high-level engineering oversight with hands‑on setting out, ensuring that line, level, and structural sequencing match complex temporary works and structural designs perfectly. This role is critical to maintaining the structural integrity of neighboring buildings and permanent works during high-risk urban schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting Out & Engineering: Provide highly accurate setting out, line and level establishment, and datum controls for demolition boundaries, temporary structural openings, and new structural steel/concrete insertions.
  • Structural Monitoring: Establish, execute, and monitor precise movement grids, verticality checks, and line/level control systems to protect third‑party structures and facade retention schemes.
  • Technical Quality Control: Review and interpret structural drawings, fabrication details, and temporary works designs, proactively identifying clashes or discrepancies before work begins.
  • Temporary Works Oversight: Work closely with the Temporary Works Coordinator to ensure propping, needling, and structural bracing are installed precisely to line and level requirements.
  • As‑Built & Reporting: Maintain exhaustive site records, including survey documentation, as‑built drawings, and daily diaries tracking the exact structural sequence of works.
  • Collaboration: Act as the technical bridge between the Project Manager, structural engineers, and site workforce to ensure safe delivery execution.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Degree / HND / HNC in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Fully proficient with modern surveying equipment, including Total Stations (EDM / Robotic Leica, Topcon, etc.), 3D laser scanners, and GPS equipment.
  • Expert proficiency in AutoCAD for extracting coordinates, reviewing structural designs, and producing as‑built drawings.
  • Proven engineering track record specifically within the UK demolition, structural alterations, or heavy refurbishment sector.
  • Deep practical understanding of structural sequencing, concrete/steel cut & carve, and facade retention systems.
  • Valid CSCS White or Black Card, SMSTS, and First Aid at Work qualifications.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to translate technical drawings into actionable instructions for site crews.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive base salary of £65,000 - £85,000 (negotiable based on technical demolition/structural/civils portfolio).
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Funding for professional development and chartership paths.
