Key Responsibilities:
- Planning, preparing, and cooking nutritious meals and snacks that meet the dietary needs of young children
- Ensuring all meals are balanced, healthy, and in line with nursery guidelines and food safety standards
- Accommodating children with specific dietary requirements, allergies, and food intolerance’s
- Ensuring portion control and providing age-appropriate meals to support children’s growth and development
- Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times
- Managing kitchen stock, ordering fresh ingredients, and ensuring proper storage
- Adhering to all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations to ensure a safe and compliant working environment
- Serving food to students and staff in a friendly and efficient manner
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas
- Assisting with setting up and packing away equipment
- Following all health and safety procedures, including food hygiene standards
- Working as part of a team to ensure smooth operations in school kitchens
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in catering or a similar role is essential.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work on an ad-hoc basis, sometimes with short notice
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to undergo one (required) is also essential.
