The role will sit between design and engineering disciplines to create, prototype and test solutions that align with our established insights/experience and our regional marketing and brand teams (based in the US, China and Germany). Concepts will be created then tested with our consumers, prototyped and then validated in our regional markets, with support from our R&D teams in China where required. When the product opportunity is well understood in terms of feasibility across design, engineering, culinary, marketing, brand, CI and legal, we can then use the considerable resources of our China teams and suppliers to complete the detail design and manufacturing preparation. Responsibilities Problem Solving & Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a small, focused team by listening carefully, asking insightful questions, and understanding complex issues and put forward a point-of-view on next steps is critical for success in this role. Market Knowledge: Leverage your working knowledge of the consumer product market in the EU and US in some of our key categories with a willingness to learn fast. Consumer Insights & Design Solutions: Contribute to the design process by gaining a deep understanding of consumer needs and how new products will address these needs to create a delightful experience. Adherence to Process: Follow a structured and methodical approach to product development, adhering to our global IPD (Integrated Product Development) process and utilized by our teams in China. An important part of the role will be following a structured approach to projects to ensure seamless, accurate collaboration. Inspiration: Bring passion, creativity and drive to help create a new team in product innovation. Attention to Detail: We don’t have time for a trial-and-error approach to design and development, we need to use intelligence and analysis to anticipate problems and get it right-first time. IoT : Understand the integration of IoT in our products, particularly through our Vesync app. A good understanding of the consumer experience this enables is critical to the role. Qualifications Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering discipline is required, and a BSc/MSc in Industrial Design Engineering is highly preferred. Note that this position is not for industrial design. Language and Work Eligibility: The candidate must be proficient in English and be eligible to work in the UK. Background: The role requires a combination of skills likely to be found in a graduate Industrial/Product Design. Work Experience: The candidate will have spent 2+ years in consumer product (NOT consumer electronics) design and development. This could include experience in motorized and heated products in categories such as power tools, blenders, vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, ovens, air fryers, etc. A working knowledge of electrical and electronic controls would be useful. Skills Requirement: The candidate must be able to demonstrate a hands-on approach to developing products from idea creation to proof-of-concept validation.
