UK/Europe (potential for other locations). Work on cryptography that actually gets built, used, and challenged in production.
Do you spend more time theorising than seeing your work actually used in real systems? Are you missing a seat at the table when technical decisions are made? Does your current role lack the depth of cryptographic challenge you’re capable of solving? Are you working in isolation instead of alongside engineers to bring ideas to life?
This role sits right at the intersection of research and real-world application. You’ll work on advanced cryptographic problems, but not in a vacuum; your ideas will directly influence systems, products, and decisions. It’s a hands-on role where you’ll collaborate with engineers and architects, contribute to emerging areas like blockchain and AI integration, and help shape what gets built next.
Why You’ll Love It Here- Work on advanced cryptographic protocols including ZK proofs and privacy-preserving systems
- Work on early-stage agentic AI ideas being integrated into blockchain products
- Be part of technical decision-making across products and architecture
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to bring research into production
- Opportunity to represent the company externally through talks and contributions
You’ll be working across research and engineering designing and analysing cryptographic protocols, then helping bring them into real systems. That includes zero-knowledge proofs, privacy-preserving technologies, and blockchain-based solutions. Day to day, you’ll collaborate with engineers and architects, contribute ideas on what’s possible (and what isn’t), and help guide how cryptographic components are implemented across products. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to external talks/research as the role evolves.
What You’ll Need- Strong experience in applied cryptography or cryptographic engineering (typically 5+ years)
- Deep knowledge of cryptographic protocols (e.g. SNARKs, STARKs, MPC, threshold signatures)
- Solid understanding of blockchain fundamentals and systems
- Experience working across both research and implementation
- MSc or PhD in a relevant field (or equivalent experience)
