Salary: £15.53 per hour (£29,880 per annum)

Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne

Hours: 37 hours per week, flexible over a 7-day rota.

The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Residential Care Officer to work at our Alan Shearer Residential Service. Our specialist Alan Shearer Residential home is located within our unique Alan Shearer site in Newcastle, and specialises in providing bespoke rehabilitative care for young adults with acquired brain injuries and learning disabilities.

You will need to:

  • Be able to work to your own initiative as well as working as part of a team.
  • Take responsibility for ordering and auditing all medication.
  • Lead, organise and supervise the staff team in their daily duties.
  • Support the manager in completing, and reviewing care plans, risk assessments, daily recording and the quality of the service.
  • Be proactive in supporting colleagues when dealing with difficult situations, ensuring any challenging behaviour is dealt with by effective use of MAPA.
  • Support residents to achieve a healthy lifestyle by promoting positive choices using a person centred approach.

You should have:

  • Experience supporting adults with acquired brain injuries and disabilities.
  • The ability to communicate effectively to work together with residents, their families and professionals to achieve best outcomes.
  • A strong values-base of putting people first and an instinct to safeguard and to work at all time with utmost dignity and respect.
  • A Diploma level 3, Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification.
