The opportunity: An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the UK Actuarial Reserving Projects team in London as an actuarial analyst. The team is responsible for actuarial projects, performing bespoke reserving analyses, delivering analytics across the UK portfolio and supporting strategic UK reserving initiatives. The role will be involved in developing and automating processes, conducting deep-dives, and partaking in regulatory reporting. Using analytical and mathematical skills, you’ll work alongside some of the most talented actuaries, as well as liaising with other areas of the business, including Pricing, Finance, Claims, and Underwriting. What will you be doing?
- Support the Head of Actuarial Projects in delivering actuarial services to the UK Chief Actuary P&C, Heads of Reserving and other business partners, providing insights into underlying performance and business implications on topics with a moderate to high level of complexity.
- Support in the delivery of new analyses and insights to develop a deep understanding of the UK P&C business model, its underwriting strategy and its interactions with customers.
- Prepare and perform reserve reviews on UK-wide analyses, working closely with UK Reserving teams and ensuring timely delivery and accuracy of bookings and results.
- Support and advise Finance, market-facing business units, and other functions on reserving and strategic projects and business decisions.
- Assist in regulatory queries, specific portfolio reserving analyses and deep dives to support senior management decision making.
- Advance the capabilities of the Reserving team by researching and implementing novel techniques across the team.
- Proactively identify and implement opportunities to design and enhance actuarial processes and tools—boosting efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement in all pieces of work conducted.
What are we looking for?
- Part-Qualified actuary and actively studying for the Actuarial exams.
- A high level of numeracy skills and an analytical approach to work is essential.
- Data management and good programming skills (e.g. SQL, R, VBA) are considered a strong advantage.
- Excellent team-working, communication and interpersonal skills are also required.
- A serious and professional attitude towards compliance of regulatory submissions with an eye for attention to detail in order to support accuracy.
- Enthusiastic and positive can-do attitude.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and driven to deliver to set deadlines.
- Adaptability and Flexibility.
- Experience in P&C reserving is preferred for this role.
