The opportunity
Zurich is seeking an accomplished Portfolio Optimisation Manager to lead the development of our SMEE-trade Market Pricing strategy and enhance our capabilities. As our e-Trade business continues to accelerate, we need a forward-thinking leader who can set the vision for Market Pricing, coach and empower a talented team, and ensure we capitalise on opportunities in a competitive landscape. In this role, you’ll provide strategic direction across a range of initiatives and deliver technical capabilities, leveraging advanced analytics to maximise profitable growth. As part of Retail Underwriting, you’ll partner closely with our Product and Technical Pricing teams to translate data-driven insights into actionable business outcomes, whilst acting as a mentor to help develop the next generation of talent. We value diverse experience, strategic vision, and a collaborative mindset. If you are passionate about driving innovation, developing people, and delivering results, Zurich will support you with an empowering environment and the tools to keep you at the forefront of your career.
Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver the SMEE-trade Market Pricing strategy to support the portfolio’s profitable growth ambition through enhanced capabilities, such as price optimisation and life-time value modelling.
- Support the derivation of market pricing change, collaborating with product owners to implement and continuously improve market pricing sophistication.
- Own a robust impact assessment process, leveraging tools such as Radar, to ensure robust analysis, best practice and safe deployment of change.
- Provide data assurance, ensuring all datasets and reporting are reconcilable and explainable.
- Coach and develop our team of analysts — providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development to foster technical excellence.
- Act as a strategic partner to Technical Pricing, Product, and Digital teams — facilitating cross-functional collaboration and influencing product direction.
- Champion a culture of insight-driven decision making, ensuring the team delivers regular, actionable performance analytics.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and across the wider business.
Your skills and experience
- Extensive experience in market pricing, portfolio underwriting, or related analytical leadership, with an understanding of General Insurance principles.
- Expertise in data analytics and modelling using advanced analytical tools.
- Radar experience is beneficial; however, we would consider those with a strong desire to learn. SQL experience would also be beneficial.
- Strategic thinking and influencing skills, able to translate complex data into compelling business recommendations.
- Demonstrable commercial ability to turn theory into actionable deliverables that serve our strategy and market partners.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge and engage at all levels.
- Proactive, innovative, and committed to continuous improvement and team development.
