Are you a pricing actuary who enjoys taking complex problems, getting into the technical detail and turning ideas into practical delivery? This role sits at the centre of pricing development and delivery across Commercial Insurance. You will progress high-impact pricing initiatives, break down blockers, and work hands-on with tools, models and data to improve how pricing insight is produced and used across the business. We are also looking for someone genuinely curious about AI and emerging analytics. This role offers the opportunity to shape how pricing is delivered in practice, working across a broad set of portfolios and influencing how new tools and approaches are adopted across the function. You will work closely with Underwriting, Finance, Reserving, Transformation and wider actuarial teams, combining strong technical judgement with the ability to bring structure, pace and momentum to complex workstreams. This role is based in our London office, with a hybrid working approach. Regular presence in the office will be expected to support collaboration with the wider team and key stakeholders.
What will you be doing?
- This is a hands-on pricing role focused on developing and delivering improvements across Commercial Lines Pricing. You will work on complex pricing initiatives that require both technical depth and the ability to make progress through ambiguity.
- The role will focus on Commercial business, giving you exposure to some of the largest and most complex insurance programmes in the market. You will support bespoke pricing and performance analysis while also helping to improve the tools, processes and insight that underpin pricing decisions.
- Drive pricing development and delivery, progressing complex initiatives and removing blockers to maintain momentum.
- Work hands-on with pricing tools, models and data, supporting their development, improvement and day-to-day use.
- Get into complex technical topics, identifying required decisions and helping stakeholders move from discussion to action.
- Partner with Underwriting on pricing decisions, including large and complex risks, ensuring outputs are practical and actionable.
- Support the planning cycle, providing robust analysis and clear pricing insight to Finance and Reserving.
- Improve pricing capability, including enhancements to rating approaches, tools and portfolio insight.
- Explore and apply AI and automation opportunities, supporting more efficient workflows and stronger insight as capabilities evolve.
- Communicate insights clearly to stakeholders, including senior audiences, and support the embedding of changes into day-to-day activity.
- Support and develop colleagues, contributing to a positive and high-performing team culture.
What are we looking for?
- We are looking for someone who is technically strong, delivery-minded and comfortable working in the detail. You do not need to have done this exact role before, but you should be able to demonstrate curiosity, ownership and the ability to bring clarity to complex problems.
- Educated to degree level, ideally in a numerate discipline.
- Qualified actuary preferred, although strong candidates with relevant pricing experience will also be considered.
- Strong technical pricing capability, with the ability to understand and work with complex models, tools and data.
- Experience in commercial pricing or actuarial roles, ideally within Commercial Lines or the London market.
- Comfort working in the detail, with the judgement to translate technical analysis into clear, actionable decisions.
- Curiosity about AI, automation and emerging analytics, with an interest in applying these pragmatically in a regulated environment.
- An early-adopter mindset, willing to experiment, learn quickly and help others understand how new approaches can add value.
- A delivery focus, with the ability to create momentum, resolve blockers and progress work even where requirements are evolving.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, working effectively with Underwriting, Finance and Reserving to influence outcomes.
- Clear and confident communication, able to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences.
