The opportunity: Zurich Engineering are a market leading Inspection and testing in the UK. We are also an approved body for activities in accordance with UKCA requirements under the Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations (PESR). We have over 600 engineer surveyors forming 35 teams nationwide completing thorough examinations of pressure systems, lifts and lifting equipment, electrical installations and plant, local exhaust ventilation and other work equipment. We have an exciting vacancy in our Technical Services area for an experienced NDT practitioner ideally located in the Manchester area.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with a practical knowledge of the inspection of pressure equipment, a working knowledge of fabrication standards such as PED5500, ASME, etc, and exposure to the repair of pressure vessels. Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Reporting directly to the non-destructive testing manager and working within a team of inspectors, your duties will include:
- Conduct NDT inspections on pressure equipment (boilers, vessels, heat exchangers, pipework) to meet regulatory and customer standards.
- Perform NDT on new items per relevant codes and standards.
- Carry out remote visual inspections for the Inspection Services team.
- Support training and development of colleagues.
- Coordinate and schedule inspections, communicate results, build client relationships, and identify business opportunities.
Training & Development:
- Comprehensive training to advance NDT qualifications (e.g., SAFed Shell Boiler, Eddy Current, Ultrasonic Forgings).
- Support towards IEng registration with the Engineering Council.
- Opportunities for further development in repair verification and examination of new pressure equipment.
What You'll Bring:
- PCN Level 2 Ultrasonic Testing of Welds (3.1, 3.2, 3.8 with 3.8).
- PCN Level 2 Magnetic Particle Testing.
- PCN Level 2 Dye Penetrant Testing.
Desirable Qualifications:
- PCN/CSWIP Welding Inspector.
- Additional PCN Level 2 certificates (e.g., Welds 3.9, Forgings, Eddy Current).
- BINDT Shell Boiler.
- ONC/HNC in Engineering.
- At least Eng Tech Engineering Council registration.
