Location: Flexible, with travel to Swindon at least twice a month.

You’ll be joining our experienced Medical Rehabilitation Team in a home‑based role with occasional travel to our Swindon office, which is fully expensed. Comprehensive training, induction and one‑to‑one support are provided, and we welcome applicants with rehabilitation experience in income protection insurance.
What will you be doing? Using your medical skills, your aim is to prevent absence through promotion of wellbeing services, signpost to aid recovery and support members and employers in returning to, and sustaining, work after illness absence. After induction, you’ll work with our Claims Team, customers and employees to prevent sickness absence through various initiatives and enable early intervention for a sustainable return to work. Opportunities include delivering Rehabilitation, Health, and Wellbeing training directly to customers and engaging with the team of Innovators.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in rehabilitation management of income protection claims made through group risk products, providing propositional support and training to the claims case managers.
- Manage around 25 cases when trained.
- Collaborate with Zurich Corporate Risk (ZCR) Claims Case Manager, employers, employees, and medical advisors to develop rehabilitation and graded return‑to‑work plans and support their implementation.
- Demonstrate medical skills, knowledge, best practice guidelines and research‑based evidence in all rehabilitation activities.
- Enable, support and evaluate effective treatment provision through the Zurich provider network when indicated.
- Handle challenges related to changing workplace issues.
- Encourage knowledge transfer into Zurich claims and rehabilitation service departments to progress and update colleagues’ medical competence.
- Contribute positively to ZCR Income Protection insurance and work in a holistic, friendly team.
- Registered Mental Health Nurse, Registered Adult Nurse, Physiotherapist or OT.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritize own workload.
- Experience enabling care in working‑age people (essential).
- Insurance‑based Medical/Vocational Rehabilitation or Occupational Health experience (advantageous but not essential).
- Desire to work with customers to solve workplace issues.
- Broad medical knowledge across psychiatric, musculo‑skeletal and cancer conditions.
- Working knowledge of the NHS and private medical sector.
- Ability to merge individual care needs with Zurich’s financial considerations.
- Willingness to engage fully in an induction period for case management and report writing.
- Ability to form professional relationships quickly and influence opinion at all levels.
- Strong team‑player attitude.
- Previous group risk experience (not essential).
- Understanding of claims functions and processes (desirable).
