Location: Croydon or Chelmsford, Hybrid.

The opportunity: We are seeking an individual to join our Southeast Mid-Market team of experienced Underwriters who is passionate about our customers. You will drive every decision and action with the goal of providing innovative and creative propositions that cater to our customer's needs. As a Trading Underwriter, you’ll be analysing and underwriting our existing business within Property and Casualty as well as Real Estate Investments. This means you’ll be in a market-facing role, so it’s important that you are great at communicating and building meaningful relationships with our distribution partners. We’ll support and train you in all the technical aspects of the role and will make sure that you feel part of the team from day one.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyse and underwrite existing business, including renewals and mid-term adjustments.
  • Provide innovative and creative propositions to suit customer needs.
  • Exceed customer expectations by delivering the highest quality service.
  • Communicate and build meaningful relationships with distribution partners.
  • Take ownership of workload and support colleagues to deliver collective workload.
  • Interact with brokers and intermediaries daily.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Ensure profitable risks are taken in line with company strategy.
  • Deliver quality and timely solutions for customers.
  • Be a team player and contribute to a standout service experience.

Your skills and experience:

  • Willingness to learn, develop, and be part of a team.
  • Underwriting experience (especially with Property and Casualty and REI) is a plus, but not required, as we are open to considering candidates with transferable skills and a strong willingness to learn.
  • Passion and desire to succeed.
  • Strong communication skills.
