We are looking for someone who can engage and manage multiple key priorities and stakeholders to deliver insightful and dynamic expense partnering for fast‑moving business functions. The role involves leading two direct reports, optimising cost efficiency, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Proactively partner on expense management to execute expense targets and guide functions on cost efficiency.
- Lead negotiations with functions to ensure budget and forecast targets are met.
- Deliver timely and accurate MI to all stakeholders, including senior management.
- Challenge key stakeholders to help them achieve optimal results.
- Prepare annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring expenses and FTE are accurately projected and managed against budgeted amounts, company policies and external regulations.
- Support monthly reporting to business functions and key stakeholders, prioritising ad‑hoc insight and analysis requests to aid decision‑making.
- Agree cost‑allocation drivers for each cost centre within the function’s remit, covering channel/product, admin, acquisition, claims handling, and variable/fixed costs.
- Effectively manage changing priorities in a dynamic environment, adapting approach as required.
- Finance qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) – preferred.
- Experience in the financial services or insurance industry, ideally within a heavily regulated environment.
- Relevant experience of business partnering and stakeholder management within finance or a business function; strong financial acumen.
- Strong understanding of financial results, metrics and levers, and ability to present complex financial metrics.
- Solution‑focused, flexible thinker with strong commercial awareness.
- Curious and creative, capable of delivering complex financial analysis and handling complex queries.
- Confident and credible with senior stakeholders, comfortable facilitating, consulting, challenging and advising as appropriate.
- Accomplished at delivering independently and coordinating activities of others, using excellent collaboration, relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- Extensive experience in building and managing relationships with varied stakeholders at a senior level, striving to exceed expectations.
- Independently finds solutions to advanced problems, identifies potential barriers and provides alternatives, challenging assumptions.
