Working hours: 35 Hours per week - This role is available on a part-time, job-share or full-time basis.
Location: Flexible/Hybrid – Some travel to our Life Head Office in Swindon.
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum depending on experience - plus an excellent benefits package.

The opportunity: We aim to be the best retail protection provider in the UK, offering a great experience for our advisers, customers, and staff. We have an exciting opportunity for a Retail Protection Product Consultant to join our team. You will help design, implement, and manage Zurich’s protection products that our customers need to secure their financial futures. This role lets you support every stage of delivering our protection product development plan. You will work in multi-functional teams to balance speed to market, project costs, regulatory compliance, and shareholder return. You will make sure all proposition developments are designed and implemented with good customer outcomes as the main focus.
What will you be doing?
- You will work with Proposition Development colleagues and other teams to design, implement, and maintain new and existing propositions on our Life Protection Platform.
- Analyse the protection market, competitors and customer needs to identify gaps and opportunities where Zurich could create commercial advantage.
- Develop ideas to enhance existing and new propositions to better meet customer needs.
- Assess feasibility of new product ideas, build business cases, and recommend whether to proceed.
- Lead or support projects to refresh, upgrade, or create new protection propositions.
- Collaborate with experts from all areas of the business to ensure changes meet customer needs, offering personalisation and flexibility efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate delivery and regulatory risks before launch. Follow product development and risk & compliance procedures.
- Help develop and maintain our propositions on industry quote portals and best advice systems.
- Understand regulatory changes and their impact on the protection market. Work with other experts to assess what changes are needed to stay compliant.
- Understand sufficiently the commercial aspects of protection plans, such as pricing and reinsurance, as part of the development process.
- Act as a retail protection expert across the business, helping other areas as required.
- Develop and maintain a network of experts in all relevant areas.
What are we looking for?
- An understanding of the advised and UK Life market is required, with additional experience in the non-advised market being preferred.
- Experience in the UK Retail Protection market is preferred.
- A passion for being part of our journey to protect customers’ financial futures.
- Experience in working in and leading successful multi-functional project teams of various scales and complexities.
- Effective communication skills tailored to each situation, ensuring all stakeholders can contribute and feel listened to.
- A self-starter with a growth mindset, comfortable thinking creatively to overcome project delivery obstacles and challenges to meet customer and business needs.
- Comfortable using data, research, and customer and adviser feedback to balance competing demands and arrive at an optimal proposition design.
- Take action to manage your personal development. Specifically, committed to developing your protection subject matter expertise to provide technical advice and guidance across the business.
- Experience of supporting the planning and development of marketing / take to market content to support launch of product developments and tactical campaigns.
