Opportunity

As a Construction Risk Engineer within Zurich Resilience Solutions (ZRS), you will independently assess complex construction risks. You will advise underwriting, claims and the global risk engineering network, and support clients and internal teams. The role is home‑based with occasional travel to London and client sites.

Responsibilities

  • Assist underwriters by assessing complex construction projects and producing risk assessment reports.
  • Undertake Potential Maximum Loss analysis for Property Damage, Schedule Delays, Business Interruption and Liability.
  • Conduct site‑based risk engineering surveys worldwide and author technical reports.
  • Support claims validation and investigation processes.
  • Provide thought leadership and technical insights on construction risk features, including lessons from losses.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying new customers and risk engineering opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered Member of the Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE) or Institute of Structural Engineering (IStructE).
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry and experience with complex multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent understanding of construction materials, methods and risk‑management practices.
  • Ability to produce concise, accurate technical reports on tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational skills and self‑motivation.
  • Experience in commercial insurance market is beneficial but not essential.
