The opportunity:

We’re looking for a numerically strong, curious problem solver to join the ZAL Reporting Team (Zurich Assurance Ltd), part of UK Life. This role combines core reporting delivery with a strong focus on automation and improvement. You’ll take an active role in supporting the production of quarterly and annual reporting while also helping to transform how that reporting is delivered—using tools like Power BI, Power Query, and Power Automate to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency. You’ll work with large datasets, investigate and resolve differences, and build more streamlined, scalable processes. If you enjoy working with data, solving problems, and making things work better, this is a great opportunity to have real impact. This is not a technical accounting role—we’re looking for strong analytical thinkers who are comfortable with numbers, data, and problem solving, and who are motivated to improve how things are done.

Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

What will you be doing?

  • Support the delivery of quarterly and annual reporting, ensuring outputs are accurate and timely.
  • Investigate, reconcile, and resolve differences in financial data.
  • Design and build automated reporting solutions using Microsoft Power tools.
  • Identify manual or inefficient processes and simplify or eliminate them.
  • Support the development of more streamlined and scalable reporting frameworks.
  • Contribute to shaping future ways of working across the reporting team.
  • Analyse outputs to identify inconsistencies, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Work with large datasets to produce clear, accurate, and reliable reporting.
  • Maintain and enhance existing reporting processes and documentation.
  • Share knowledge and promote best practice across the team.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to investigate issues and reconcile differences in data.
  • Experience in a reporting, data, or finance environment (desirable).
  • A natural problem solver with a logical and structured approach.
  • Experience using Microsoft tools such as Advanced Excel and Microsoft Power tools (Power Query, Power Automate and Power BI).
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

Behavioural Competencies:

  • Curiosity and a desire to understand how processes and data flows work.
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to challenge and improve existing processes.
  • Confidence to take ownership and drive improvements.
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work across teams.
  • A strong focus on delivering high-quality outcomes.
