The opportunity

We are looking for an individual to join our Southeast Mid‑Market team of experienced Underwriters who is passionate about customers and motivated to drive profitable new business growth. In this role, you will focus on underwriting and trading new business opportunities within the Property and Casualty market, ensuring our propositions meet the unique and evolving needs of our customers. You’ll take a market‑facing approach, building and strengthening relationships with brokers to secure high‑quality, sustainable new business. We’ll support you with the technical training and development needed to succeed, and you will feel part of the team from day one.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and drive New Business Underwriting for Mid‑Market P&C risks.
  • Trade confidently in the market, representing Zurich with professionalism and credibility.
  • Build strong, meaningful, and proactive relationships with brokers and intermediaries to support new business conversion.
  • Provide innovative, customer‑centric solutions tailored to unique risk profiles.
  • Deliver exceptional service to exceed customer and broker expectations.
  • Take ownership of individual new business pipelines while supporting the wider team to deliver collective goals.
  • Identify new opportunities to grow our portfolio in line with strategy.
  • Ensure risks are selected profitably and in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying efficiency and process‑enhancement opportunities.
  • Be a collaborative and positive team player, contributing to a standout team culture.

Your skills and experience

  • A willingness to learn, develop, and be part of a collaborative team.
  • Underwriting experience, particularly in Property & Casualty is advantageous but not essential.
  • Passion for customer service and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building ability.
  • Confidence to make decisions using both data and judgement.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to question and challenge.
  • Adaptability to manage changing workloads and priorities.
