The opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced and influential Cross-Line of Business (LoB) Underwriting Product Owner to help shape the future of Zurich’s underwriting platforms, including Neo Pre-Bind and Z-Horizon+. This is a high-impact role at the centre of underwriting transformation, providing clear business ownership, prioritisation and decision-making across multiple Lines of Business, segments and geographies. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring that common underwriting capabilities are designed once, reused wherever possible and delivered in line with the CAPDAN principle: Common as Possible, Different as Needed. By aligning senior stakeholders, delivery teams and underwriting communities, this role will help reduce fragmentation, improve delivery confidence and protect the business value and return on investment into our strategic platforms.
What will you be doing?
- Own and maintain the cross-LOB underwriting vision and drive business strategy to bring a clear underwriting view to future priorities, including for the Neo Pre-Bind and Z-Horizon+ roadmaps – considering the needs and opportunities for UW tooling today, and how those will evolve as technologies like AI rapidly expand.
- Provide clear business direction and prioritisation to Business Analysts, delivery teams, platform teams and change stakeholders.
- Apply CAPDAN consistently to ensure common underwriting capabilities are standardised and reused wherever possible.
- Engage and align senior stakeholders across Group, Business Units, Lines of Business and underwriting communities.
- Manage competing priorities and resolve conflicts between local requirements and enterprise-wide outcomes.
- Shape and prioritise the cross-LOB underwriting backlog, ensuring requirements are clear aligned to business priorities.
- Work closely with post-bind, operations, technology and change teams to ensure an aligned end-to-end underwriting journey.
- Own execution of business case preparation, investment prioritisation and tracking of expected benefits and value realisation.
- Champion adoption by ensuring delivered capabilities are embedded into day-to-day underwriting practice.
What are we looking for?
- Strong experience of underwriting processes, ideally across multiple Lines of Business, segments or business units.
- Experience in strategic thinking and vision setting, ideally in the context of solutions to support the UW community.
- Ability to consider the needs and opportunities for UW tooling today, and how those will evolve as technologies like AI rapidly expand.
- Proven ability to operate as a Product Owner, business lead or transformation owner in a complex change environment.
- Experience shaping product roadmaps, prioritising backlogs and working closely with business, technology and delivery teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence, challenge and align senior leaders.
- Strong judgement and decision-making capability, including the ability to make balanced decisions in ambiguous or time-sensitive situations.
- A practical understanding of standardisation, reusability and process optimisation across large-scale platforms or operating models.
- Clear and structured communication skills, with the ability to translate complex business and platform topics into actionable priorities.
- Experience working across levels (including C-suite) in large, international or matrixed organisations would be an advantage.
- Professional underwriting qualifications or relevant product, agile or change delivery certifications would be beneficial.
This is a rare opportunity to take on a visible and strategically important role in a major underwriting transformation programme. You will work with senior stakeholders across the business, influence how Zurich’s underwriting platforms evolve, and help deliver more efficient and insights-driven underwriting journeys across the enterprise.
About you
You will be commercially minded, delivery-focused and confident working at the intersection of underwriting, technology and transformation. You will bring the credibility to engage senior stakeholders, the structure to create clarity from complexity, and the judgement to balance local needs with enterprise-wide outcomes.
