This role supports a team of Underwriters and Senior Underwriters in general underwriting operations, contributing to the success of our Engineering Underwriting business.
Working Hours: Part-time, job-share or full-time basis.
Salary: Up to £25,000 depending on experience.
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid with 5% travel).
Closing Date: Wednesday 20th May 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Support delivery and enhance productivity of general underwriting operations
- Build relationships with brokers and customers
- Maintain agreed input to management reports and provide updates as required
- Process policies, endorsements and liaise with Underwriting support teams
- Reduce rework and create efficiencies where possible
- Promptly handle and positively resolve enquiries from brokers, customers and colleagues
- Meet agreed performance measures, including high quality and timely data input to systems
- Achieve targets to maintain productivity, quality and service standards
- Ensure accurate records are maintained and documentation is produced promptly in accordance with guidelines
- Assist and support co‑workers who maintain relationships with customers
Qualifications:
- High level of accuracy and an eye for detail
- Ability to prioritise, organise and plan workloads to meet objectives
- Strong interpersonal skills for internal and external interaction
- Proactive approach and willingness to suggest improvements
- Commitment to corporate values and own personal development
- Effective numerical, verbal and written communication skills
- Engineering experience is a plus but not required
