Job purpose:

The Solar Technical Auditor is responsible for inspecting, assessing, and verifying the quality, performance, and compliance of solar installations. This role ensures that all Solar PV and Battery Storage projects meet technical standards, safety regulations, and contractual requirements, contributing to high-quality installations and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This will be an office-based role where you will conduct desktop technical audits of solar PV systems, including new installations, upgrades, and maintenance checks.
  • Inspect system design, installation workmanship, and overall functionality to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Review project documentation, including design plans, permits, and test results.
  • Identify technical defects, safety hazards, or performance issues and provide detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with installation teams, engineers, and project managers to address audit findings and ensure remediation.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies, industry best practices, and relevant codes (e.g., NEC, IEC standards).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on common issues and trends.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of audits, findings, and follow-ups.
  • Stay updated on advancements in solar technology, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in training and mentoring installation teams on audit requirements and quality expectations.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in solar PV system installation, inspection, or technical auditing.
  • Strong knowledge of solar PV technology, electrical systems, and relevant codes and standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and project documentation.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly report technical findings.
  • Competent in using inspection tools, testing equipment, and audit software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple audits within deadlines.
  • Nice to have - NVQ Level 3 solar PV systems and energy storage systems qualifications.
  • Valid driver’s license (office-based but willingness to travel to site when needed).
