Working with a next-generation Fintech commercial, wholesale, and transaction banking organisation undergoing significant growth, we are looking to appoint an Interim Head of Engineering to lead a small, high-performing, hands-on team. This is a player-coach role in a lean environment, requiring someone who can operate at the level of engineering detail while also leading from the front and partnering closely with product, commercial, and regulatory stakeholders.
We're seeking a technically fluent, hands-on engineering leader who can bridge architecture, development, and business, translating complex technical concepts into practical delivery in a regulated banking environment.
Key requirements:- You must be deeply experienced within commercial, transaction and institutional banking environments and have exposure to building next-gen digital assets infrastructure.
- Strong technical depth - comfortable in code where needed, able to lead developers and understand architecture in detail.
- Experience working in best-in-class engineering environments, combined with the ability to operate hands-on in a scaling organisation.
- You must have a fintech mindset.
- Experience of institution digital assets is preferable.
- Ability to translate between engineering, product, business and regulatory/compliance teams.
- Exposure to, or understanding of, the institutional digital assets ecosystem (not essential, but highly valuable).
- Low ego, high EQ — able to lead, influence and collaborate effectively in a lean team.
- Immediate start required.
- £800/day, Outside IR35.
- Remote, with occasional travel to London.
