We combine strategy, integrated marketing, PR and policy engagement to help our clients navigate an increasingly complex and commercially competitive healthcare landscape.
Our work is strategic, creating visibility and credibility whether that is through share of voice, brand-building, or market positioning.
We create editorially confident, genuinely creative content that is market moving and supports our client’s success.
About the Role
We're looking for an Account Manager to lead insight and strategy work across a portfolio of healthcare clients.
You'll design and run research programmes, turn market intelligence and data into clear strategic recommendations, and act as the day-to-day client contact for accounts where evidence-led thinking is the main value we bring.
You'll work closely with the wider account teams to ensure research findings translate into sharp positioning, credible business cases and campaigns grounded in real client and market data — while owning account financials and mentoring the Account Executives who support you.
Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day delivery of strategy and insight-led client accounts, ensuring work is on brief, on time and on budget
- Design and lead quantitative and qualitative research programmes - surveys, stakeholder interviews, message testing and competitive intelligence - to support client strategy and business development
- Utilise insights to support the development of activity such as market positioning, market sizing, product and service stakeholder engagement, campaign design, communications planning, thought leadership reports and PR campaigns.
- Translate market intelligence, competitor analysis and data into clear, actionable brand and market positioning recommendations
- Create impactful presentations and reports which let clients gets to the heart of insight easily and also motivate and inspire.
- Build and maintain dashboards, trackers and reporting tools that turn raw data into digestible, client-ready insight
- Provide strategic counsel to clients on market positioning, business planning and communications strategy, grounded in evidence rather than opinion
- Manage client budgets and financial reconciliation independently, ensuring account profitability
- Lead client meetings and presentations, translating complex data and analysis for senior stakeholder audiences
- Identify growth and upsell opportunities within existing accounts, and contribute research-led proposals and pitches for new business
- Mentor and review the work of Account Executives, developing their research and analytical skills
- Keep abreast of healthcare policy and market trends and translate their strategic implications for clients
- Stay on top of industry trends and develop new research methods to generate fresh insights for clients.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of client campaigns and strategies against agreed KPIs
- Supporting and developing account executives so they become familiar with strategy and insight methodologies and approaches.
Qualifications
- A relevant degree (market research, social sciences, marketing, healthcare or a related subject) — not essential if you can demonstrate the skills above
- Required Skills
- Proven experience in a research, insight, strategy or planning role, ideally within a healthcare, life sciences or professional services communications agency
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including survey design, stakeholder interviews and secondary/desk research
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, commercially relevant recommendations for non-technical audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting analysis to senior clients
- Proven ability to manage client budgets and account financials independently
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple research and account workstreams simultaneously
- The right to work in the UK without sponsorship
- Preferred Skills
- Managing, coaching or mentoring junior team members
- Understanding of the UK healthcare/NHS landscape, PMI dynamics, and the private and independent healthcare sector
- Experience with data visualisation or dashboard tools (e. g. Excel, Power Point, Power BI, Flourish)
- Experience contributing to new business pitches and research-led proposals
- Pay range and compensation package
- A salary of £35,000–£40,000, dependent on experience
- The chance to shape strategy across ZPB's full client portfolio, not just a single account
- Direct mentoring from senior healthcare communications consultants, with a clear path to Account Director
- A collaborative, evidence-led team with a genuinely no-nonsense approach to client work
- 25 days holiday and on top the office is closed between Christmas and New Year
- Private health insurance
- Employee assistance programme including free legal advice, therapy and health checks
