About the Role
We are looking for a Maintenance Electrician to join our site‑based engineering team. This is a hands‑on role responsible for the electrical maintenance, repair and servicing of building infrastructure, with secondary support to production equipment and machinery. The role plays a key part in ensuring safe, reliable and compliant electrical systems, supporting continuous manufacturing operations and contributing to ongoing site improvements.
Role Responsibilities
- Building Electrical Systems
- Maintain, fault‑find and repair site electrical infrastructure, including lighting, panels, circuits, power distribution and emergency systems
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical regulations, safety standards and internal procedures
- Carry out routine inspections, testing and planned preventive maintenance
- Production Equipment Support (Secondary)
- Support maintenance technicians with electrical faults on manufacturing equipment
- Assist with wiring, testing and commissioning of new or upgraded machinery
- Contribute to root‑cause analysis of electrical breakdowns
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance activities
- Accurately record work via CMMS or maintenance logs
- Identify improvement opportunities to reduce downtime and increase reliability
- Safety, Compliance & Reliability
- Follow safe systems of work and electrical safety best practice
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure all work meets quality, safety and reliability standards
- Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Support site upgrades, facility improvements and electrical projects
- Assist with equipment relocations and layout changes
- Provide input on electrical design, materials and system improvements
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with production, engineering, maintenance and external contractors
- Provide clear updates on work status and expected downtime
- Support and guide colleagues where required
What you’ll need
Essential
- Fully qualified Electrician with AM2 (or equivalent final assessment)
- Recognised electrical apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- Experience in industrial, commercial or manufacturing environments
- Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation
- Confident working independently and diagnosing faults safely
Desirable
- Manufacturing or continuous production environment experience
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic systems
- Awareness of control systems, PLC wiring, VFDs or sensors
- Experience using CMMS systems
- Strong problem‑solving, IT and communication skills
