About the Role:
We are looking for an Analytical Chemistry Technician to support our materials testing capabilities within the Innovation team. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining analytical equipment, developing and improving test methods, and interpreting data to support product development and process optimisation. This role would suit someone who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, problem-solving, and working closely with technical teams.
Role Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot analytical laboratory equipment, including TD-GCMS, DSC, TGA and FTIR
- Carry out analytical testing in line with relevant standards and internal procedures, producing accurate and reliable data
- Interpret and present data to support product development and decision-making
- Develop, validate and improve analytical test methods
- Act as a technical point of contact for analytical techniques across the business
- Train colleagues on analytical equipment and methods
- Identify issues with testing methods or equipment and implement solutions
- Support continuous improvement within laboratory practices and data use
- Maintain a safe, clean and audit-ready laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with COSHH and health and safety requirements
- Contribute to cross-functional projects with Innovation and Engineering teams
What you'll need:
We’re looking for someone who is curious, detail-focused and enjoys working with data and laboratory equipment.
Experience and knowledge:
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science or similar, or relevant lab experience
- Hands-on experience in analytical testing or laboratory environments
- Experience operating and troubleshooting analytical equipment
- Ability to interpret technical data and link it to material or process performance
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and data accuracy
- Clear communication, able to explain technical information to different audiences
- Well organised with good time management
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
