About the Role

We are looking for a Shift Maintenance Technician to join our engineering and maintenance team at our Croydon manufacturing site. In this hands‑on role, you’ll support the maintenance and reliability of industrial plant equipment including steam boilers, thermal oil heaters, compressors, extrusion lines, and automated systems. Working on a rotating shift pattern, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the site runs safely, efficiently, and continuously. This position suits an experienced Maintenance Engineer / Electrical or Mechanical Technician from a manufacturing, plastics, or process industry background who enjoys troubleshooting, fault finding, and continuous improvement.

Role Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance (PPM and breakdowns) on a wide range of manufacturing equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and fault diagnosis of mechanical, electrical and automated systems.
  • Accurately record work completed in the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects to enhance safety, performance, and equipment reliability.
  • Identify and report potential Health & Safety and environmental risks, promoting a strong safety culture across the site.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and process teams to reduce downtime and improve productivity.

What you’ll need

  • Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3 / ONC / HNC or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance role.
  • Experience working with automated systems, PLCs or SCADA controls.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and mechanical maintenance skills.
  • Familiarity with planned maintenance systems (CMMS) and engineering reporting.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety in a process or production environment.
