Β£27k + Β£32k + Benefits My client is a rapidly growing Rigging and Lifting equipment rental supplier to the UK Film industry who also specialise drapery, consumables, etc. They are a family firm who have been operating for a quarter of a century. They seek a reliable, self-motivated individual to work as an inspector of hardware equipment including various lifting equipment (training will be given) although similar experience will be necessary thus you may work in a stores environment (Car parts, Building equipment, etc). Role Purpose: The Lifting Accessories Inspector is responsible for inspecting lifting accessories to ensure they are safe, correctly identified and suitable for continued service. The role primarily covers shackles, roundslings, soft steel slings, masterlinks, pulleys and other lifting accessories for which the Inspector has been trained and authorised. The Lifting Accessories Inspector reports to the relevant Team Lead and Lifting Department Manager. Key Responsibilities Carrying out thorough inspections in accordance with relevant department procedures and inspection criteria. Identifying wear, damage, deformation and other defects. Checking equipment identification and maintaining traceability. Taking measurements where required using suitable calibrated equipment. Recording inspection results accurately. Passing only equipment that meets the required acceptance criteria. Clearly identifying and segregating failed equipment. Reporting unusual defects, recurring problems and equipment concerns. Maintaining a safe, clean and organised inspection area. Using inspection tools and equipment correctly. Inspection Standards Inspection quality shall not be compromised to increase output or meet customer demand. The Inspector is responsible for the inspection decisions they make and shall only pass equipment they are satisfied meets the required standard. Where the condition of an item is uncertain, it shall be held and referred to the Team Lead or Lifting Department Manager. Safety All work shall be carried out safely and in accordance with relevant department procedures and risk assessments. Suitable handling equipment or assistance shall be used where equipment cannot be safely handled by one person. Unsafe equipment, working conditions or practices shall be reported promptly. Competence The Inspector shall only inspect equipment for which they have received appropriate training and have been assessed as competent and authorised. Employees are expected to maintain their knowledge of relevant inspection procedures and participate in required training. General Expectations The Lifting Accessories Inspector is expected to work accurately and productively, maintain good housekeeping, communicate effectively with colleagues and contribute to the efficient operation of the Lifting Department. Inspectors shall ask for guidance whenever they are unsure about an inspection decision, procedure or equipment condition. General: Basic IT knowledge with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word / Outlook etc. Numerate. Basic maths skills and arithmetic required. Attention to detail and accuracy. Proactive, self-motivated individual capable of working on their own initiative in a constantly changing and pressurised environment and fast developing company. The ability to work as a member of a team and to provide and receive input from other team members is vital.
