We’re incredibly proud of our achievements and none of it would be possible without the amazing team here. It’s not just industry awards we’re winning, we’ve also been named in the top three UK’s Most Loved Workplaces.
If you embrace unconventional challenges, are unafraid to think differently and are driven to make an outsized impact, you’ll thrive here at Zopa, so join us, and make it count.
Traditional assurance approaches often rely on lengthy checklists and surface-level compliance testing. We’re doing things differently. At Zopa, we believe in a data-led, outcomes-focused approach to assurance. We’re looking for a Compliance Assurance Manager to join us on a fixed term contract, to lead the way in embedding this modern, innovative methodology, one that focuses on the key, most important things that influence the outcomes our customers experience.
In this role, you’ll report to our Head of 2nd Line Compliance and lead our compliance assurance reviews, but you won’t just be ticking boxes, you’ll be deep-diving into the data, working with AI and analytics experts, and making sure our approach is focused on what really matters. You’ll also have oversight of Zopa’s broader approach to assurance across different risk areas, ensuring we’re using the best tools and insights to evaluate how effectively we’re managing risk.
A day in the life: This is an opportunity to reshape assurance for a modern digital bank, using cutting-edge technology and innovative thinking to drive real impact.
- Running targeted, data-driven assurance reviews – You’ll conduct 2nd line compliance reviews that go beyond process-checking, using data and analytics to assess the actual outcomes customers are experiencing.
- Bringing together AI and risk management – You’ll work closely with our data and AI experts to develop and deploy new tools that enhance assurance through automation and deep data analysis.
- Contributing to compliance analysis and change management requests - Aside from assurance, you'll also assist the team by assisting with ongoing compliance monitoring and feeding into well-grounded 2nd line opinions on business changes.
About you:
- You understand what a good vs. bad customer outcome looks like and what really drives those outcomes. This could come from experience in customer-facing processes, operations, product, customer experience, or risk—anywhere that has given you deep insight into how customers interact with financial services.
- You have a broad understanding of legislation, regulations and guidance applicable to Zopa’s business and the regulatory environment that the bank operates in.
- You’re bored of traditional, tick-box assurance and want to use your expertise in a way that truly drives better outcomes for customers.
- You’re a strong problem-solver with a keen eye for what really matters—you focus on key risks, not unnecessary complexity.
- You love working with data and new technology to find better ways of doing things.
- Experience designing or conducting assurance reviews and understand how to evaluate risk management effectiveness.
- You’re a strong communicator who can influence senior stakeholders and explain complex findings in a way that makes sense.
- You’re adaptable, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love the challenge of building something new.
Bonus points for:
- Experience working with data scientists, AI specialists, or analytics teams.
- Exposure to technology-driven approaches to assurance, risk, or compliance.
At Zopa we value flexible ways of working. We value face-to-face collaboration and a good work-life balance. This hybrid role requires you to come to our London office 2-3 days a week. You'll also have the option of working from abroad for up to 120 days a year! But no matter where you are, we’ll make sure you’ve got everything you need to thrive, both in your work and home life, from day one.
Diversity Statement: Zopa is proud to offer a workplace free from discrimination. Diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds leads to better products for our customers and a unique company culture for our people. We are made up of nearly 50 nationalities, have a DE&I forum made up of Zopians wanting to make a difference and we are proud of our culture where everyone can bring their full self to work. Our approach to DE&I is reflected in our hiring process so please let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments.
Our approach to AI in interviews: At Zopa, AI isn't something we're testing out — it's part of how we work every day. As a proud partner of Jobs 2030, we're committed to building AI fluency across our workforce, and we expect Zopians to use AI as part of how they do their jobs. Because of that, we want to be transparent about how we think about AI use during our hiring process.
Behavioural and competency-based interviews: please don't use AI. These conversations are designed to understand you — your experiences, your judgment, and how you've approached real situations. An AI-generated answer can't tell us that. What it can do is get in the way of us finding out whether we're the right fit for each other.
Technical interviews: it depends on the role. Some technical stages actively welcome AI use, others don't. Your Talent Partner will let you know what's expected at each stage. Where AI is part of the assessment, we'll be interested not just in the outcome, but in how you used it – the tools you chose, your reasoning, and the decisions you made along the way.
