Our Story

Hello there. We’re Zopa. We started our journey back in 2005, building the first ever peer-to-peer lending company. Fast forward to 2020 and we launched Zopa Bank. A bank that listens to what our customers don’t like about finance and does the opposite. We’re redefining what it feels like to work in finance. Our vision for a new era of banking puts people front and centre — we’ve built a business that empowers everyone to aim high, every day, to move finance forward. We’re incredibly proud of our achievements and none of it would be possible without the amazing team here. It’s not just industry awards we’re winning, we’ve also been named in the top three UK’s Most Loved Workplaces. If you embrace unconventional challenges, are unafraid to think differently and are driven to make an outsized impact, you’ll thrive here at Zopa, so join us, and make it count.

Zopa's Analytics teams are building new automated ways to find the problems that impact customers and the bank and stop them before they spread. Leveraging analytics, automation and AI-enabled tooling, we’re moving away from manual controls towards scalable automated systems and controls that can proactively detect problems and improve customer outcomes. This is a new and highly visible area for Zopa, with strong backing from senior leadership and real opportunity to shape how analytics, automation and AI are used to solve real business problems. You’ll work across Product, Analytics, Engineering and Risk to understand how processes actually work, where data lives, and how we can turn messy operational processes into scalable automated solutions and controls. Banking is the business of risk management - put yourself at the heart of it and join us on the journey to unleashing the power of cutting edge technologies in this business critical area!

The first focus will be lending products, including customer statements and related communications, with scope to expand into other product areas over time.

A day in the life...

  • You’ll speak to stakeholders across the business to understand processes that may not be fully documented.
  • Investigate how data moves through systems and work out what needs to be monitored, validated or automated.
  • Use SQL, Python and AI-enabled tools to build scalable automated solutions that were previously unimaginable, like our cutting edge AI tool that ensures we identify and protect our vulnerable customers.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to understand system architecture and support implementation.
  • Help improve the quality, reliability and scalability of how we identify and prevent operational issues.
  • Shape a new capability at Zopa, creating approaches and patterns that can be reused as the function grows.

About you...

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a STEM field or similar.
  • Highly curious, with a strong instinct to dig deeper and understand how systems, processes and data flows work.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments where problems are not fully defined.
  • Strong logical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a practical and structured approach.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder skills, with the confidence to ask good questions and challenge assumptions.
  • A proactive mindset with examples of taking ownership and driving work forward independently.
  • Exposure to SQL, Python or similar analytical tooling, or strong evidence of the aptitude to learn quickly.
  • Excited by automation, AI and using technology to solve real business problems.

Added bonus:

  • Experience in operations, consulting, fintech or other fast-moving environments.
  • Experience using AI tools to solve real problems, with the ability to critically assess outputs rather than accept them at face value.
  • Personal projects, courses or other examples that demonstrate coding curiosity or technical learning.
