Overview

Hello there. We’re Zopa. We started our journey back in 2005, building the first ever peer-to-peer lending company. Fast forward to 2020 and we launched Zopa Bank. A bank that listens to what our customers don’t like about finance and does the opposite. We’re redefining what it feels like to work in finance. Our vision for a new era of banking puts people front and centre — we’ve built a business that empowers everyone to aim high, every day, to move finance forward.

We’re incredibly proud of our achievements and none of it would be possible without the amazing team here. It’s not just industry awards we’re winning, we’ve also been named in the top three UK’s Most Loved Workplaces. If you embrace unconventional challenges, are unafraid to think differently and are driven to make an outsized impact, you’ll thrive here at Zopa, so join us, and make it count.

The Role in a Nutshell

This is one of the most impactful analytics roles at Zopa. As a Level 10 Fraud Analyst, you’ll use data to protect customers and the bank from fraud in real time, while making sure genuine customers experience as little friction as possible. You’ll sit in the Fraud Analytics team, which acts as the analytical engine behind Zopa’s fraud strategy. The work is fast-paced, highly visible, and directly influences live decisions that affect customers every day.

Why This Role Exists

  • Fraud threats evolve constantly.
  • Zopa is scaling its products and customer base, and strong fraud analytics is critical to doing that safely.

This Role Exists To:

  • Detect and respond to fraud patterns quickly
  • Improve fraud controls across onboarding and transactions
  • Reduce losses while balancing customer experience

You’re not maintaining something mature — you’re helping build and improve fraud decisioning as the team grows.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing Day To Day:

  • Monitoring fraud dashboards and data across products
  • Investigating unusual patterns or spikes in activity
  • Using SQL and Python to explore data and answer urgent questions
  • Designing, testing, and improving fraud rules and controls
  • Feeding real-time analytical insight into fraud blocks and interventions
  • Working closely with Fraud Strategy, Operations, Product, and Engineering

What Success Looks Like as a Zopa Analyst:

  • Producing accurate, well-structured analysis
  • Explaining not just what the numbers say, but why they matter
  • Taking ownership of your work and asking good questions early
  • Communicating clearly with more senior stakeholders
  • Beginning to connect analysis to real customer outcomes

You’re not expected to know everything about fraud on day one — curiosity, learning speed, and analytical rigour matter more.

What are we looking for?

  • Demonstrated analytical curiosity and rigour
  • Advanced SQL experience
  • Experience using Python for analysis, or clear willingness to learn
  • A passion for data accuracy and analytical rigour
  • Ability to explain analytical thinking clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Curiosity about customer behaviour and how fraud manifests in data

Interview Stages – What To Expect:

  • Recruiter Screening (30 mins) – Focus: motivation, problem-solving mindset, technical background, and interest in fraud analytics.
  • SQL Technical Assessment (1 hour) – Focus: writing clean, accurate SQL
  • Fraud Analytics Case Study (1 hour) – Focus: approach to a fraud problem end-to-end. No prior fraud experience required — we’re testing thinking, structure, and communication.
  • Final Interview (45 mins) – Focus: competencies, collaboration, decision-making under pressure, and alignment with Zopa’s values.

This role is ideal for someone early in their analytics career who wants to build strong technical foundations while working on meaningful, high-impact problems. We look forward to hearing from you!

At Zopa we value flexible ways of working. We value face-to-face collaboration and a good work-life balance. This hybrid role requires you to come to our London office 2-3 days a week. You’ll also have the option of working from abroad for up to 120 days a year! But no matter where you are, we’ll make sure you’ve got everything you need to thrive, both in your work and home life, from day one.
