Our Team
The Security Engineering team’s mission is to secure Zopa’s technology platform. We work closely with platform and product engineering teams to ensure the security of our infrastructure, while enabling engineers to build our products quickly and efficiently. We’re part of the Information Security team which is responsible for protecting the bank and our customers against various threats.
A Day In The Life
- You would report into the Engineering Manager in the Security Engineering team.
- You would lead the development of great solutions to improve security of our cloud‑based technology infrastructure, making security the easy option for engineers.
- You’ll chart the technical direction of the team, supporting team members to meet technical standards, experiment and find innovative solutions.
- You’ll collaborate with other team members, platform, product engineering and security operations teams.
- You’ll help solve complex technical problems and analyse trade‑offs.
- You would evaluate open‑source and third‑party commercial solutions for suitability and value to our users.
- You would participate in ownership and maintenance of the team’s solutions.
About You
- Demonstrated experience designing solutions with cloud infrastructure technologies, ideally some or all of: AWS (or another cloud platform), Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, and secrets management tools like Vault.
- Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana and ideally Splunk).
- Knowledge of scripting/programming languages, ideally Go and/or Python.
- You enjoy owning delivery of large projects and communicating with stakeholders in other teams/roles.
- Strong commitment to quality throughout the SDLC, including testing.
- Excited to continuously learn new things and dig into new technologies, and to mentor team members to do the same.

- Participation in ownership of distributed services running in production at scale.
We’re on the move! Towards the end of 2025 Zopa will be relocating to a brand‑new headquarters at 20 Water Street in Canary Wharf. The 44,000 square foot workspace will foster collaboration and inspire creativity for our 900 employees amidst our 2025 growth blitz.

We value face‑to‑face collaboration and a good work‑life balance. This hybrid role requires you to come to our London office 2‑3 days a week. You’ll also have the option of working from abroad for up to 120 days a year!
