We’re looking for an Android Engineer to join the Mobile Platform team and help shape the future of our Android experience in Kotlin.
Responsibilities
- Report to the Engineering Manager for the Mobile Platform team.
- Collaborate closely with native mobile engineers to design, build, and evolve the Android platform.
- Play a key role in migrating the app from React Native to native Android, building in Kotlin.
- Partner with the wider mobile engineering community to define best practices for native development and support cross‑training.
- Improve performance, robustness, and quality of the app by identifying bottlenecks, addressing technical debt, and resolving defects.
- Work cross‑functionally with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver features that fully leverage native Android capabilities.
Qualifications
- Experienced in building and shipping production Android apps in Kotlin and publishing to Google Play.
- Strong understanding of Android frameworks, platform APIs, and native app best practices.
- Background on high‑engagement mobile apps focused on performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Passionate about quality with a track record of raising engineering standards through design, testing, and maintainable code.
- Motivated by creating broad impact through better processes, tooling, and automation.
- Customer‑focused with genuine interest in Zopa’s mission.
