Zopa is recruiting a 1st Line Compliance Associate to support the safe and compliant distribution of its products through merchants and intermediaries. The role primarily covers Point of Sale (PoS) finance, auto finance, unsecured personal loans, and credit cards. This role is central to enabling Zopa’s growth through lending intermediaries in a controlled and compliant way. It involves supporting the onboarding of new merchants and auto dealers/brokers, monitoring their activities, and contributing to the ongoing development of distributor risk frameworks. The position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in risk and compliance, as well as problem-solving and communication skills.
A Day In The Life
- Support onboarding and monitoring: Assist with due diligence, onboarding, and ongoing oversight of merchants and intermediaries.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Work with internal teams and external partners to help ensure compliance with Zopa’s policies and that risks are managed within agreed appetite.
- Improve risk frameworks: Contribute to initiatives that enhance distributor risk and compliance processes.
- Relationship management: Maintain effective working relationships with key contacts at each intermediary or merchant.
- Maintain robust documentation: Keep organised and auditable records of due diligence, reviews, and key decisions.
- Management information: Support the production and analysis of management information (MI) on key risk indicators across distribution partners.
- Respond to information requests: Coordinate responses to due diligence and other information requests from partners, engaging relevant subject matter experts where required.
About You
- Experience working in a risk or compliance role is essential.
- Strong attention to detail, with an ability to understand wider objectives.
- A methodical and pragmatic approach to work.
- Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks and adapting to changing priorities.
- Analytical mindset and clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively.
- Interest in partnerships and distribution channels, including PoS merchants.
- Confidence to question and challenge information and decisions where appropriate, internally and externally.
Bonus Criteria
- Experience interpreting and applying FCA guidelines (such as CONC) is beneficial but not essential.
- Prior experience in partnerships or operational oversight is advantageous.
