Who We Are
Zoopla is a leading UK property website and trusted consumer brand, empowering movers to make better property decisions with over nine million monthly users generating over one billion annual property searches. Zoopla is more than a property portal. Over 5 million homeowners are subscribers, tracking their property values and providing a pipeline of movers for Zoopla’s customers (estate agents and housebuilders). The business is investing in leveraging its scale and reach to build new, AI-driven experiences that engage movers and unlock value and a strong return on investment for customers.
Our guiding behaviours define how we work together and what we expect from one another. These behaviours are to keep it simple, take ownership, make it better and win together. We strive for progress not perfection and have no doubt that we can achieve our ambitions if we focus on the right things, give it our all and do it together.
What You’ll Do
Our Data & Analytics Team powers data-driven decision-making across Zoopla. As a core member of this technical squad, you will implement, maintain, and optimise the tracking solutions that allow our Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to self-serve. You are a hands‑on problem solver and the trusted voice of authority for how data should be captured and routed across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Tracking authority for product squads: Act as the subject matter expert for PMs and Developers. Instead of writing every spec for them, you will guide squads on how to design effective tracking, review & approve their specs, and enforce the Zoopla Standard before taking on the implementation.
- Implement & maintain tracking: Own the technical configuration in GTM and Amplitude. You will build out complex tracking setups, ensure events fire efficiently, and proactively monitor data quality across all platforms to keep our analytics reliable.
- Marketing & AdTech integration: Act as the technical gatekeeper for marketing pixels and tags (e.g., Google Ads, Meta, Iterable). You will partner with Growth and Marketing teams to deploy tracking securely, ensuring implementations are optimised for site performance and routed cleanly via GTM or server‑side solutions where possible.
- Configure data pipelines: Manage our CDP (Rudderstack). You will be responsible for configuring new destinations, mapping data correctly, and ensuring robust data flow from our apps and website to downstream tools.
- Experimentation SME & troubleshooting: Serve as the technical escalation point for Amplitude Experiment. While squads will run and QA their own A/B tests, you will maintain the core framework (feature flags, assignment logic) and step in to troubleshoot complex setups or debug tricky exposure tracking issues.
- Cross‑platform engineering partner: Work directly with App and Web engineers to deploy and debug third‑party SDKs. You will act as the technical guide to resolve issues related to identity resolution, latency, or versioning across ecosystems.
- Privacy by design: Take charge of our Consent Management Platform (Usercentrics). You will ensure all new implementations – whether for product analytics or marketing pixels – are inherently GDPR‑compliant, mapping tags accurately to consent categories and acting as the gatekeeper for privacy‑safe tracking.
Requirements
- Technical proficiency: Strong skills in JavaScript. You have a solid, practical understanding of the DOM, browser APIs, data layer logic, and client‑side data flows.
- Delivery track record: Proven experience hands‑on implementing and managing product analytics tools (e.g. Amplitude, Mixpanel, or PostHog) and tag managers (GTM). You understand the event‑driven mindset inside and out.
- CDP experience: Practical experience working with CDPs to route data effectively.
- Consultative execution: You own things end to end. You can look at a business or marketing objective, advise the team on the best tracking approach, and independently see the technical implementation through to deployment.
- Clear communicator: You are comfortable pushing back when standards aren't met and can translate complex technical tracking concepts into plain English to guide non‑technical colleagues across Product, Marketing and Engineering.
- Engineering workflows: Comfortable with version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab) and participating in a collaborative codebase.
- Data verification: Ability to write SQL queries to verify data in a warehouse.
- Mobile experience: Hands‑on understanding of how tracking and SDKs are implemented across Native React Apps.
- AI‑ready: Comfortable using AI tools to speed up day‑to‑day coding and QA tasks.
Our Stack
- Orchestration: GTM, Rudderstack
- Analytics: Amplitude (Analytics + Experiment), GA4.
- Marketing & Ops: Google Ads, Meta, Iterable, Usercentrics, Usabilla, Permutive.
