The Fortinet data security team helps global customers protect their intellectual property and sensitive data through a unified solution for data loss prevention, insider risk management, and Shadow AI governance that integrates with Fortinet’s Security Fabric.

As a Senior UX/UI Designer, you will collect and translate user insights into efficient workflows, UX, and UI designs for cybersecurity professionals performing complex tasks. The UX team plays a crucial role within the product and engineering organisation — gathering insights, translating business requirements, advocating for users, and bringing our experiences to life through intuitive interfaces. This is a collaboration‑centric role that works closely with colleagues across product, engineering, and customer success. It also offers a genuine opportunity to help shape the design practice itself — building out standards, systems, and research foundations, and championing the value of strong UX/UI skills across the organisation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the end‑to‑end design process — discovery research, problem framing, ideation, co‑creation, and usability testing — across all fidelity levels, from rough concepts and wireframes to high‑fidelity prototypes.
  • Conduct user research and validation activities that support evidence‑based decision making, drawing on both generative and evaluative methods.
  • Synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights and communicate them to stakeholders through reports, journey maps, and opportunity frameworks.
  • Advocate for users in cross‑functional discussions, helping product managers and engineers make evidence‑based decisions and driving alignment among participants.
  • Partner with product management and engineering to translate product initiatives into user‑centered solutions, helping identify user needs, risks, and opportunities throughout the design process.
  • Drive user‑centered design, consistency, and usability across teams; contribute to and expand our design library and system, and define research best practices for the team.
  • Drive multiple initiatives across varying scopes, adapting the depth of research to time and resource constraints — knowing when a quick, informal test is enough and when a deeper study is warranted.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A proactive self‑starter with proven experience leading design projects of varying scale, comfortable with ambiguity, and driving work forward with user‑centered design.
  • Excellent interaction and visual design skills, supported by a portfolio of end‑to‑end projects.
  • Fluent across generative and evaluative research methods, able to scope research appropriately to the time and resources available, and to maintain a research repository and best practices for the team.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills — able to listen, proactively address feedback, and represent and advocate for users and UX in an engineering‑centric organisation.
  • Excellent collaboration with multidisciplinary teams — product management, engineering, customer success, and users.
  • Focused on customer and end‑user personas, using data to inform design options and decisions.
  • Experienced with standard UX design (Figma, Sketch, Framer, Storybook) and product analytics tools (Pendo, Amplitude) to support data‑driven design.
