An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join a rapidly expanding renewable energy and building services specialist delivering high-end residential and commercial projects across the South East. This is a senior technical position offering the opportunity to take ownership of the design function, lead a small team of engineers, and play a key role in delivering innovative renewable energy solutions. You'll work on prestigious projects involving heat pumps, solar PV, MVHR and complete mechanical and electrical systems, helping shape projects from concept through to construction.
Requirements:
- Leading, mentoring and supporting a team of Design Engineers
- Taking ownership of projects following technical handover from the sales team
- Producing detailed technical designs for renewable energy and mechanical building services systems
- Designing Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), Solar PV, MVHR and complete M&E solutions
- Completing heat loss and heat gain calculations, room-by-room analysis and system sizing
- Producing detailed schematics, layouts and technical specifications
- Acting as the technical lead for installation teams, providing guidance and resolving design queries
- Managing design workloads to ensure project deadlines and service levels are achieved
- Working closely with architects, consultants, contractors and clients throughout the design process
- Implementing and maintaining BIM processes while ensuring compliance with RIBA design stages
We’re looking for a technically strong Design Engineer with excellent leadership skills and experience delivering high-quality renewable energy or building services projects. You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience designing renewable energy systems, particularly Air Source Heat Pumps
- Strong background within Building Services or Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) design
- Experience managing projects from concept through to detailed design
- Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers, or the ambition to move into a leadership role
- Excellent understanding of BIM processes and RIBA design stages
- Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and renewable energy standards
Technical Skills
Experience using one or more of the following:
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- IES
- EasyPV
- Heat loss calculation software
- Mechanical building services design packages
