ZoieLogic Dance Theatre is seeking a Creative Producer (Heritage & Conservation) to join We Are Holyrood — a landmark heritage and community engagement programme based in the Holyrood Estate, Southampton. This four-year project is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and places care, co-creation and community ownership at the heart of heritage practice.

About the Project
We Are Holyrood is a landmark heritage and community engagement programme delivered by ZoieLogic Dance Theatre in the heart of the Holyrood Estate — one of Southampton’s most diverse yet historically overlooked neighbourhoods. This ambitious four-year initiative blends creative arts, youth leadership, public storytelling and heritage research to reconnect the community with its rich 700-year history, while amplifying contemporary voices through public art, digital outputs and community-led events. Central to the project is ensuring heritage and place-making activities are high-quality, relevant, accessible and capable of transforming local narratives.
Role Purpose
The Creative Producer (Heritage & Conservation) will provide specialist leadership in curatorial direction, public heritage engagement and conservation across the We Are Holyrood project. The role ensures all public-facing outputs — including exhibitions, public artworks, storytelling installations, digital platforms and legacy resources — are produced with respect and care for Holyrood’s heritage, while accurately and authentically reflecting the lived experiences, voices and histories of residents. Working closely with the Community Engagement Manager, freelance Project Managers and the wider ZoieLogic team, the Creative Producer will champion authenticity, inclusive storytelling and community ownership throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Heritage Leadership & Curation
- Lead on creative and curatorial direction for all public-facing heritage outputs
- Ensure heritage research and narratives align with participatory heritage practice and community feedback
- Oversee exhibitions, heritage trails, audio walks and street artworks in collaboration with artists and residents
- Advise on accessible and engaging use of heritage content across creative outputs
- Project & Programme Integration
- Act as a senior member of the We Are Holyrood delivery team
- Embed heritage thinking across youth engagement, storytelling and creative production strands
- Work with the Senior Producer to align outputs with timelines, budgets and quality standards
- Partnership Development
- Build and maintain partnerships with heritage organisations, local historians and archives
- Act as the main contact for external heritage consultants and specialists
- Work with the Community Engagement Manager to ensure activities are co-designed with residents
- Legacy & Conservation Planning
- Support legacy planning for all digital and physical heritage assets
- Advise on archiving, digital preservation and long-term accessibility
- Contribute to integrating Holyrood heritage into wider city narratives
- Quality Assurance & Evaluation
- Provide curatorial sign-off on all heritage outputs
- Support evaluation and reporting to funders and stakeholders
Skills, Experience & Knowledge
Essential:
- Postgraduate qualification (MA or equivalent) in Heritage, Conservation, Museum Studies or a related field
- Proven experience delivering public heritage projects, particularly community- or place-based work
- Strong understanding of participatory heritage, co-curation and inclusive storytelling
- Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and diverse communities
- Excellent organisational, communication and project management skills
Desirable:
- Experience of heritage-led placemaking or regeneration
- Familiarity with Southampton’s cultural and historical context
- Experience working within culturally diverse or socio-economically disadvantaged communities
- Knowledge of digital heritage tools and platforms
Accountability & Reporting
- Reports to the Senior Producer, ZoieLogic Dance Theatre
- Works closely with the Artistic Director, Community Engagement Manager, freelance Project Managers and wider ZoieLogic team
- Contributes to reporting for funders, resident representatives and heritage partners
