An opportunity has arisen for an experienced ContractsManager to join our team in Elvington, York.

Reporting to the Senior Management, you shall be involvedfrom bid stage, through Pre-Construction and will be ultimately responsible forthe Construction and Delivery stage of the project. You will be required tomanage health, safety and environmental aspects or the project, to plan work,co-ordinate and supervise designers, subcontractors and labour and ensure workis progressing on schedule, to the required standard whilst controllingprogramme and costs.

You must have experience as a Contracts Manager lookingafter both new build and refurbishment construction projects in multiplesectors. This will ideally include housing plus commercial andindustrial. Various forms of contract training will be provided, althoughsome knowledge in these areas would be an advantage.

Main responsibilities and roles include

  • Produce tender programmes, preliminaries,methodologies and support the Estimator during site visits and tender periods,including identifying value engineering opportunities at bid andpre-construction stages.
  • Assist and lead the pre-construction team duringthe pre-construction phase of projects and with the discharge of relevantplanning conditions.
  • Lead/chair design team meetings with the client,professional teams and with subcontractors.
  • Plan and manage projects during the lead inperiod, completing construction phase plans, waste management plans and allrelevant health and safety paperwork as required.
  • Take overall responsibilityfor theconstruction and delivery stage of the project, manage health and safety andenvironmental aspects of the project. Plan, co-ordinate and supervisedesigners, subcontractors and labour to ensure work is progressing on scheduleand in a safe manner. Ensure work is being completed to the required standardwhilst controlling programme and costs.
  • Produce request for information schedules andensure information is obtained in adequate time to enable the project toprogress as programmed.
  • Assist the quantity surveyor by producing labourand plant forecasts for the cost value reports. Produce subcontract procurementschedules as required.
  • Attend contracts managers labour and cost valuemeetings weekly/monthly as required
  • Produce monthly progress reports for sitemeeting, complete monthly contractors reports and chair meetings as required.Maintain regular client contact even when we are not working with them to seekout future opportunities.
  • Support and encourage colleagues and work as ateam to achieve objectives. Assist and support the site managers as required,various levels of support required depending on the ability of the sitemanager, junior site managers require additional support.
  • Monitor subcontractor RAMS and site compliance, ensuring SiteManagers maintain appropriate daily and weekly health and safety records andthat work is completed as per method of working, on time and to asuitable standard.
  • Procure any long lead in items/materials priorto the project starting on site.
  • Co-ordinate main services and highway adoption procurement with theservice/design co- coordinators.
  • Introduce customer care manager to the client athandover and assist the customer care manager with any defects until the end ofdefects period.

A full driving licence is essential as the role involvestravel to our sites. You must have some experience of using Microsoft Project,Excel and Word. Relevant qualifications will be an advantage such as CSCS card,SMSTS, First Aid and Scaffold Inspection.

The position is full-time (45 hours, 07.30am – 5.00pm,Monday to Friday).
