We have an exciting newopportunity for a full time Consultant Endocrinology and Diabetes working for aleading Trust in Northern Ireland, UK. This will be for a 2-year fixed termcontract, to work full time (10 programmed activities per week), with thepotential to extend, at the second largest hospital in Northern Ireland, withteaching hospital status.
The successful candidate will joina multi-disciplinary team and a department of three full time consultantphysicians in Endocrinology and Diabetes and a consultant Chemical Pathologistwith an interest in Diabetes.
The post holder will provideoutpatient and inpatient service in Endocrinology and Diabetes. An additionalopportunity is to supply a sub-specialty osteoporosis clinic, for secondaryprevention and more complicated cases of primary prevention in close liaisonwith the Trauma & Orthopaedic service and a Consultant Rheumatologist witha speciality interest in osteoporosis.
The job role will be to share inthe collective responsibility for the provision of endocrinology, diabetes andgeneral medical services, and assist in further developing these serviceswithin the hospital and Trust. To contribute to the development of excellencein clinical practice through research, audit and participation in clinical andsocial care governance.
The post holder will play a significant role in medical education, will be expected to participate fully inundergraduate and postgraduate teaching and to promote knowledge of thespecialty of Endocrinology & Diabetes amongst colleagues in the Trust.
Key Requirements
- Full registration withGeneral Medical Council (GMC) and a licence to practice.
- Entry on the GMC SpecialistRegister for Endocrinology & Diabetes and General Internal Medicine viaCCT(proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview date),CESRor E uropean Community Rights.
- Knowledge of Acute and ChronicEndocrinology & Diabetes conditions including osteoporosis.
- Understanding of managementissues including medical discipline, Clinical, Governance, ServicePlanning.
- Itwould be desirable to have Higher Qualifications e.g. MD, PhD, experience in managing patients withosteoporosis, publications/presentations.
