Thefollowing are the core skills and experience expected to be successful in thisrole:

• Solid and demonstrable experience in ITinfrastructure and cloud engineering or architecture, with a deep workingknowledge of compute, storage, networking, and cloud management principlesapplied in professional delivery contexts.
  
• A track record of designing, building, andmaintaining cloud-based platforms and infrastructure, with a focus on AWS.
  
• Hands on experience with AWS, includingpractical delivery across core services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon EKS,Amazon RDS, Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, Amazon VPC, AWS Identity andAccess Management (IAM), AWS Lambda, and AWS App Runner or AWS Fargate.
  
• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC)using tools such as Terraform (including AWS), AWS CloudFormation, or theAWS Cloud Development Kit (AWS CDK).
  
• Background in CI/CD pipeline design andautomation using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline,AWS CodeBuild, or similar.
  
• Understanding of networking, security, andidentity management in cloud environments, including AWS-specific bestpractices.
  
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, andalerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, the ELK stack, AmazonCloudWatch, and AWS X-Ray).
  
• Experience with version control systems(e.g., Git) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
  
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimiseworkloads for performance, cost, and reliability on AWS.
  
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect –Associate or AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate certification, oractive progress towards it, demonstrating a commitment to maintainingcurrent and validated technical expertise.
  

The following will be desirable skills:

• Professional or specialty level AWScertification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional orAWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate, reflecting depth of technicalknowledge across complex platform domains.
  
• Knowledge of site reliability engineering(SRE) principles and practices.
  
• Relevant AWS certifications (e.g., AWSCertified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, AWS CertifiedDevOps Engineer – Professional, or AWS Certified Security – Specialty) area plus.
  
• Hands on experience withinfrastructure-as-code tooling, particularly Terraform, AWSCloudFormation, or AWS CDK, and a substantial appreciation for repeatable,version-controlled, and auditable provisioning practices.
  
• Familiarity with hybrid and multi-cloudarchitecture, including experience integrating on-premises environmentswith AWS.
  
• Working knowledge of AI and ML services onAWS, with a clear understanding of how platforms such as Amazon SageMaker,Amazon Bedrock, and Amazon Q Business can be positioned to drivemeasurable client outcomes.
  
• Experience with AWS billing, costmanagement, and optimisation, including services such as AWS CostExplorer, AWS Budgets, and AWS Cost and Usage Reports.
  
• Exposure to data engineering or analyticsworkloads on AWS, such as AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Athena, AmazonKinesis, Amazon SNS, or Amazon SQS, with an ability to contributemeaningfully to data-driven client programmes alongside specialist datateams.
  
• Have SC Clearance or eligibility to gain SC clearance.
