Adult Skills Tutor – Education and Training

Salary: £27,000–£29,000 per year

LT Selection is recruiting three Adult Skills Tutors for an education and training provider delivering Adult Skills Fund programmes across South Yorkshire.
You will help adult learners gain qualifications in school support, safeguarding and teaching and learning. Learners may be looking for work or developing skills for their current role. Your teaching, assessment and support will help them complete their qualifications and progress towards their personal and career goals.
Delivery takes place in community venues across Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster, with some virtual classroom sessions. You must be based in South Yorkshire and able to travel regularly across the region.
Qualifications you will deliver
- Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools.
- Level 2 Certificate in Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values.
- Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive programmes through face-to-face community sessions and virtual classrooms.
- Assess learners’ work accurately and provide timely, constructive feedback to support achievement.
- Adapt teaching and support to individual learning needs, helping learners overcome barriers to participation and progression.
- Monitor learner engagement, retention, achievement, progression and satisfaction against agreed targets.
- Provide impartial information, advice and guidance on learning, employment and further training opportunities.
- Build effective relationships with local community organisations, employers, partner agencies and colleagues.
- Respond to learner questions and concerns, and signpost people to wellbeing, financial and other support services when needed.
- Maintain accurate learner records in line with quality, funding and compliance requirements.
- Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment, identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns promptly.
Qualifications and experience
- A teaching qualification at Level 3 or above.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience as a tutor, with evidence of successful learner outcomes.
- Experience supporting adult learners who are unemployed, learners with SEND, and learners from Entry Level to Level 3.
- Knowledge of education programmes and resources, with confidence using online learning platforms and learner information systems.
- Strong communication, planning, organisation, IT and administrative skills, and the ability to motivate learners and work with colleagues and partners.
- The ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Willingness to work towards a Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead qualification.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for regular travel across South Yorkshire.
