Job Description

  • 4-5 months contract with a local authority

  • Job Purpose
  • This position involves leading the management and resolution of Stage 1 SEND complaints, ensuring that issues are addressed promptly, fairly, and in line with statutory guidance, local policies, and best practices.

The Inclusion Lead will collaborate with families, schools, and professionals to achieve early resolution of complaints and enhance outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

  • Key Duties/Accountabilities
  • Oversee and coordinate all Stage 1 SEND complaints.
  • Acknowledge, investigate, and respond to complaints within established timeframes.
  • Collect and analyze relevant information, records, and evidence for investigations.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents, carers, schools, and professionals throughout the complaints process.
  • Draft clear, accurate, and professional responses to Stage 1 complaints.
  • Identify key issues, concerns, and insights from complaints.
  • Collaborate with services and partner agencies to resolve issues promptly.
  • Ensure complaints are handled fairly, objectively, and consistently.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases to the Senior Inclusion Lead when necessary.

Essential Experience Required

  • Proven experience in investigating complaints or resolving complex issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working within a local authority, education, or SEND service.
  • Experience collaborating with families and multi-agency partners.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Understanding of SEND legislation, guidance, and processes.
  • Familiarity with statutory complaints procedures and dispute resolution processes.

  • Enhanced DBS check required.
