Our client is a leading international metal recycling company based in Essex, with operations spanning multiple Countries. They are seeking an experienced Shipping Administrator to join the Logistics team, support the smooth coordination of Shipments, Export Documentation, and compliance requirements across global markets.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and prepare all export/shipping documentation (commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin, customs declarations, etc.)
- Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and hauliers to arrange timely shipments.
- Ensure compliance with international trade, export, and customs regulations.
- Export Customs clearance using Entry Summary Declarations ( ENS) and the New Computerised Transit system (NCTS)
- Track and monitor shipments, resolving any delays or discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, documentation, and costs.
- Communicate with internal teams (sales, operations, yard staff) to align shipping schedules with supply and customer requirements.
- Support the negotiation of shipping rates and contracts with carriers and logistics partners.
- Handle customer queries regarding shipping and delivery schedules.
- Ensure deposits are received from customers prior to shipments
- Liaise with Customers to ensure all the documents are with the customers on time to allow the invoice payment in line with contracts
- Update payment schedule for key customers and lease with the finance team , traders and customers to ensure banking limits are maintained
- Assist in preparing reports on shipping performance, costs, and KPIs.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or export administration (experience within recycling, commodities, or manufacturing industries advantageous).
- Strong knowledge of export documentation and international shipping procedures.
- Familiarity with customs regulations and Incoterms.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ERP/logistics software experience preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
