Position Overview

Our client seeks an organised and proactive Transport Planner to coordinate and optimise the movement of fine art and high-value items across the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning vehicle routes, scheduling collections and deliveries, coordinating drivers and technicians, and ensuring all transport activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in accordance with client requirements. This role requires strong logistical planning skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule daily transport operations for collections, deliveries, installations, and removals.
  • Optimise vehicle routes and resource allocation to maximise efficiency and minimise costs.
  • Coordinate driver schedules, vehicle availability, and specialist installation teams.
  • Monitor transport activities and respond proactively to operational changes, delays, or customer requests.
  • Ensure all transport documentation is accurately prepared and maintained.
  • Maintain compliance with UK transport regulations, driver hours legislation, and company procedures.
  • Track vehicle movements and provide regular operational updates.
  • Assist with fleet planning and maintenance scheduling.
  • Ensure all movements are carried out in accordance with artwork handling, security, and environmental requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the transport and logistics function.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in transport planning, logistics coordination, or fleet scheduling.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
