If you want to spend your career on listed buildings, churches, and historic properties rather than generic condition surveys, this is worth a look.
Our client is a small, independent practice of Chartered Building Surveyors based in Truro, working almost exclusively on building conservation across Cornwall, the Scilly Isles, and Devon. Listed buildings, planning and Listed Building Consent applications, specifications, tender and contract administration on historic fabric. This isn't a side-line to commercial surveying, it's the whole business.
You'll work closely with experienced chartered surveyors from day one, get proper exposure to conservation-specific work most graduates don't see until years into their career, and build toward RICS chartered status with full support along the way.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting with surveys and condition reports on listed and historic buildings
- Supporting planning and Listed Building Consent submissions
- Helping prepare specifications and tender documents
- Getting involved in site inspections and contract administration
- Working toward RICS APC with support from chartered colleagues
What you'll need
- A building surveying degree (or close equivalent) accredited by RICS
- Genuine interest in historic buildings and conservation, not just building surveying generally
- A full driving licence, as site visits across Cornwall and Devon are part of the role
Salary £28,000 - £35,000 depending on experience.
