Are you an experienced Senior or Principal Town Planner looking to take the next step in your career? We’re working in partnership with an award-winning, nationwide town planning consultancy to recruit for a key hire in their Central Manchester office, located just a short walk from Manchester Piccadilly station. This company is highly regarded in the planning sector, with a reputation for excellence, collaboration, and career development. With offices across the UK and a growing portfolio of exciting projects, this is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and respected planning team.
The Role: As a Senior or Principal Town Planner, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering a diverse portfolio of planning projects across sectors such as residential, commercial, and mixed-use development. Based in the Central Manchester office, you’ll work closely with clients, local authorities, and colleagues across the UK to provide expert planning advice and drive projects from inception through to delivery. You’ll be responsible for preparing and managing planning applications, conducting site appraisals, engaging in public consultations, and presenting evidence at appeals where necessary. At Principal level, you’ll also take on leadership responsibilities — mentoring junior team members, managing client relationships, and contributing to business development initiatives. What We’re Looking For:
- MRTPI-qualified or working towards full RTPI membership
- Proven experience in town planning, ideally within consultancy
- A strong understanding of the UK planning system
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative and client-focused approach
- Experience mentoring junior planners (for Principal level) (Desirable not essential)
