Senior Planner – Essex

Location : Essex (Hybrid Working Available)

Salary : £35k-£45k +(DOE) + benefits

I’m currently working with a well-established planning consultancy in Essex who are looking to add a Senior Planner to their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and commercially minded planner who’s ready to take on more responsibility and work across a diverse range of projects — including residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes.

The role :

You’ll be involved in all aspects of the planning process, from site appraisals and pre-application advice through to preparing and managing planning submissions. The role offers the chance to work closely with clients, landowners, and local authorities, while being supported by an experienced leadership team who encourage professional development.

Key responsibilities :

  • Preparing and managing planning applications and appeals
  • Providing expert planning advice to clients and stakeholders
  • Drafting planning statements, policy reviews, and supporting documentation
  • Attending site visits, meetings, and public consultations
  • Supporting business development and mentoring junior planners where appropriate

About you :

  • MRTPI qualified (or working towards it)
  • Previous experience in consultancy or local authority planning
  • Strong technical knowledge and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and report-writing abilities
  • A collaborative, proactive attitude and a genuine passion for planning
