About the role:

My client is a leading planning consultancy based in Bournemouth, committed to delivering excellence in planning and development services. With a broad portfolio of clients, they provide innovative and sustainable planning solutions across the region. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join their dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Planning Applications: Lead the preparation and submission of planning applications, appeals, and related assessments.
  • Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing expert advice and guidance throughout the planning process.
  • Project Leadership: Manage and deliver multiple planning projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Policy Interpretation: Stay up-to-date with local and national planning policies, guidelines, and regulations, and provide insightful policy advice.
  • Mentorship: Support and mentor junior planners, fostering their professional growth.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and community representatives to achieve successful project outcomes.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Experience: Proven experience in town planning, ideally within a consultancy or local authority environment.
  • Qualifications: A relevant degree in Town Planning or a related field. MRTPI membership (or working towards it) is desirable.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present clear, concise reports.
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of the UK planning system, regulations, and policy frameworks.
  • Project Management: Excellent organisational and project management abilities, with experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive problem-solving skills, with a solution-oriented approach.
