The Drainage Design Engineer role :

The role would involve would focus on providing Flood Risk Assessments, drainage and highway infrastructure design on all types and sizes of new development, supporting and collaborating with project managers from across the business to meet the needs and expectations of clients. They are keen to ensure that they continue to provide the high-quality innovative solutions and service that their clients have come to expect. Your ability to learn, adapt and provide new thinking will be invaluable to the role.
Some specific requirements of this role will be to :
- Production of Technical Reports (Flood Risk Assessments, Technical Notes, Drainage Strategy reports).
- Develop technical highway and drainage designs to support S104, S38 and S278 applications.
- Undertake a variety of technical assessments for new developments.
- Explain technical concepts to others including colleagues and clients.
- Check technical outputs, drawings and reports produced by junior staff.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of presentations and present information to internal and external groups.
- Manage projects with moderate supervision ensuring outputs are delivered on time and to an excellent standard.
- Provide updates on the progress of tasks in line with programmes.
- Write reports and liaise with Clients / Project Managers on the management and co-ordination of projects.
- Ensure compliance with the relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Prepare or supervise the preparation of presentations and present information to internal and external groups.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, innovations, and best practices in infrastructure engineering and construction.
Requirements
They expect :
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject.
- A minimum 3 years’ experience in UK development related infrastructure engineering.
- Demonstrate suitable knowledge of relevant design standards including DMRB, Manual for Streets, Sewers for Adoption, local road standards and relevant national planning policy.
- Be experienced in the preparation of highways and drainage design and in particular S38, S278 and S104 processes.
- Be experienced in writing flood risk assessments and / or drainage strategy reports for development projects.
- Knowledge and application of drainage design from first principles and experience in the use of Microdrainage and / or Causeway flow software.
- Have experience in writing flood risk assessments or drainage strategies for development projects.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and written skills.
- Be motivated, enthusiastic and committed to further developing your career in Civil Engineering.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams and welcome competence in Power BI and Access).
- Experience in the use of AutoCAD and Civils 3D.
- A full UK driving license, as the role may require you to visit sites only accessible by car.
